Atul Panase: Artist Biography

Atul Panase is an Indian national, born in Nagpur (Maharastra), grew up in Bhilai Nagar (Chhattisgarh) – known as ‘a steel city of India’, who earned a Master in Fine Art degree from North University Jalgaon. He has lived in Dubai for over 20 years where he creates art for living. He is a nature lover in essence, which inspires him to paint landscapes on location. In earlier days he was known as a cartoonist in India, where he won many awards in various competitions, and his cartoons were circulated by numerous publications.

An experienced illustrator and graphic designer, this Dubai-based visual artist won the Silver Award in Lynx 2010, and was chosen to exhibit at SIKKA ART FAIR, an annual art event founded by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. Last year Atul participated in a watercolour group exhibition at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi called “Art at India House”. More recently, he was selected as one of 8 watercolorists for exhibiting works at Sperlonga, Italy, in the international festival “Sperlonga in Acquerello 2017” titled “Paint Brushes and Watercolours”. Recently he received an Honorable Award during an international event called – Pearls of Peace – Through Watercolor, Season II, 2nd International Watercolor Biennale, which was held at University of Jamshoro in Sindh Provienvce – Pakistan in February 2018.

Atul is also an accomplished art curator. He was one of three curators for the World Art Dubai 2017. In 2017, he curated a photography exhibition titled ‘Fluid Moment’- Impressions of Spontaneity at gallery’76 – DIAC and in 2016, an Indian art exhibition titled “Colours of Pride” at the Pullman Hotel in Dubai. He is the team leader of the United Arab Emirates for an international watercolor festival “Fabriano in Acquarello”, which is held yearly in Fabriano, Italy. He is again leading a team of 33 watercolorists from UAE to take part in “Fabriano in Acquarello-2018”.

In August 2017, he was invited by House of Art & Artists S.R.L., Milano, Italy to attend the 6th edition of Mount Lu Watercolors Paintings Art Festival which was held in Lushan, China – one of the biggest art festivals in Asia. The whole art trip was sponsored by the House of Art & Artists S.R.L. and his name was proposed as a UAE leader by InArte Fabriano, Italy.

Of all his achievements, he takes special pride in having imparted his skills to more than 1500 students of over 30 nationalities through classes and art workshops held at the Dubai International Art Centre, Tashkeel and Lotus Institute. He is also a visiting faculty at the University of Sharjah as well as several other academic institutions in the UAE.

Atul has captured the essence of people, places, things and situations in myriad colours, as portraits, landscapes and abstracts. His unique perception gives each work of art a poignant touch. Atul’s paintings grace the walls of corporate offices and residences in the UAE and India, and many of his works have been reproduced as calendars, greeting cards and posters.
